It is our intent at Lawnswood Campus to teach children life skills that will positively impact on their future. Our pupils will experience a wide range of physical activities to help foster a lifelong enjoyment of sport and/ or exercise. We aim that our students will be secure in the knowledge that regular exercise has a positive impact on their own physical and mental health. We want to teach children how to cooperate and collaborate with others, as part of a team, understanding fairness and equity of play to embed life-long values.

Pupils at the Lawnswood Campus participate in weekly high quality PESSPA lesson. We ensure lessons are inclusive, enjoyable, and engaging, promoting a challenging and socially supportive environment that is accessible to all. The PESSPA curriculum is topic-based where students will experience a wide range of physical activities to help foster life-long enjoyment for sport and/or exercise. Across the campus, we provide opportunities for all children to engage in extra-curricular activities before, during and after school, in addition to competitive sporting events. At Lawnswood Campus we not only teach PESSPA but also develop SMSC and PSHE through our lessons to support the holistic development of the child.

Our impact is

  • To inspire students for lifelong participation in physical activity and sport.

  • A lifelong appreciation of the benefits of regular physical activity.

  • Development of key knowledge linked closely to curricular outcomes and promotes effective personal development.

  • Knowledge that physical activity improves physical and mental wellbeing.

  • Improve student wellbeing and fitness through PE.

  • Learners are successful in being effective role models in social, competitive, and playful environments.

  • Learners demonstrate an ability to develop an independent approach to physical activity and can overcome barriers to learning through resilience building.

  • PESSPA will have a positive impact on developing on both physical and emotional literacy.

  • Learners will be able to progress to post 16 qualifications linked to sport and lifelong learning.
